Aluminum Cans Only

Cans made from recycled aluminum uses 95% less energy than making them from scratch; a massive reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

Products have a second life

Kids have an important role to play in the future of our community and empowering them with knowledge about the environment through hands-on activities can instill amazement and delight for nature, enhance problem solving and community engagement.

With parent participation, kids are invited to consider what ‘recycling’ means, and think about how objects that go into the recycling bin can be turned into new items.  Here, both parents and educators can embed sustainable education and practices to give kids a greater awareness and appreciation of the environment, help foster a sense of community while teaching them problem solving and small ways they can care for it.

Closing the
recycling loop

Our Kidz Can Renew Recycling Program is an introduction to recycling that enables kids to consider what ‘recycling’ means, and think about how objects that go into the recycling bin can be turned into new items.  In this case:  aluminum drink cans

Once sorted, the aluminum drink cans are compressed into large blocks called bales and then sent to a recycling plant. Sale of these bales are intended to fund broader programmatic efforts that include, but are not limited to tours, workshops and field and classroom activities.  To participate, simply follow the online registration pathway and you’ll be sent a free Recycling Bin.  Bins come in three sizes that are illustrated on the registration form.  Simply select the bin size that best suits your needs. Filled bins will be picked up at your location once filled.
